Joshua Rubin, MD, PhD Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Hematology and Oncology has been awarded the Pioneer Award for Pediatric Neuro-Oncology from the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation (CBTF). A non-profit organization, CBTF was founded in 1988 by dedicated parents, physicians and friends. Their mission is to improve the treatment, quality of life and the long term outlook for children with brain and spinal cord tumors through research, support, education, and advocacy to families and survivors.

Kathleen Simpson is a St. Louis native who grew up in University City as one of five children. Five faculty members at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis recently were elected to the Society for Pediatric Research, which aims to improve child health through research, professional collaboration and advocacy. Storch Named Research Integrity Officer
I am delighted to announce that Gregory Storch, MD, has agreed to take on the role of Research Integrity Officer (RIO) for Washington University, effective July 1, 2018. Greg will replace Aubrey Morrison, MBBS, MACP, who has served in this role since 2006. Greg is the Ruth L. Siteman Professor of Pediatrics, and also holds joint appointments in the Departments of Medicine and Molecular Microbiology. Greg is a nationally renowned scholar, teacher, and clinician with impressive accomplishments in virology and the molecular identification of new and emerging pathogens.

Gov. Parson meets with Washington University leaders
Washington University leaders met with Missouri’s newly installed governor, Mike Parson, during his Wed., June 20, visit to the Medical Campus. Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton and David H. Perlmutter, MD, executive vice chancellor for medical affairs and dean of the School of Medicine, talked with Parson about the university’s academic strengths and innovative research. The governor’s visit was one in a series of stops in St. Louis to meet with the area’s top employers, including Schnuck Markets and Boeing Co.
