Julie Nogee, M.D.

Julie Nogee is actually a native Midwesterner. She was born in Cincinnati, OH where she spent the first 3 years of her life before relocating to St. Louis, MO for 4 years. Those early years in St. Louis made quite the impression on Julie and when her parents moved to Baltimore, MD, Julie often liked to remind her parents of St. Louis’ superiority to Baltimore at every opportunity.

Joshua B. Rubin, M.D., Ph.D.

Sex differences identified in deadly brain tumors
For decades, scientists have recognized that more males get cancer and die of the disease than females. This is true for many types of cancer, including the deadly brain tumor glioblastoma. Now, a team of researchers led by Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis has identified distinct molecular signatures of glioblastoma in men and women that help explain such underlying disparities in patients’ response to treatment and survival.

  • New National Institutes of Health Policy for T Grants – On November 7, 2018, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) issued a policy requiring applications for institutional training grants (T15, T32, T34, T35, T36, T37, T90/R90, TL1, TL4) must include a letter on institutional letterhead signed by a key institutional leader that describes the institutional commitment to ensuring that proper policies, procedures, and oversight are in place to prevent discriminatory harassment and other discriminatory practices.
