Education Skills Program – August 2018

The Department of Pediatrics’ inaugural Education Skills Program sponsored by Office of Faculty Development was a success. The goals of this program are to enhance our skills as educators, to develop longitudinal peer networking and mentoring, to create productive education interest groups and to enhance the culture of education within our department. Attendees found the program to be worthwhile as the goals were met, good discussion was generated and much information was immediately applicable to their role as an educator.

Topics, presented by faculty, include bedside teaching, assumptions about learning, Engaging lectures, feedback, careers, mentoring, recommendation letters, positive learning environment, teaching with simulation.

Participants are nominated by Division Chiefs. The series will be offered roughly every 6 months and we will plan to vary the time for future series to try to accommodate different schedules.
